The Quinta Pedra da Cancela is the fruit of the passion for the wine of the Gouveia family. The winemaking operation has been a family activity for several generations, in the beginning they were delivering their grapes at the Adega Cooperativa. In 1999, with the end of the superior studies in Viticulture and Enology of João Paulo Gouveia, son of João Coelho Gouveia, they decide to create their own wine. The vineyards were restructured, others were acquired and a modern wine cellar was built and with a high technology, all respecting the culture of the Dão demarcated region. In 2014 the name of the company became Pedra Cancela Vinhos do Dão Lda
<p></p><p>Casa Ermelinda freitas is a wine brand recognized by the world for its magnificent wines. From its very beginnings, made the quality of its vineyards and wines a top priority. When the company first started, wines were produced and sold wholesale and unbranded. It was the current management that decided to take on the challenge that is involved in creating an own brand wine. 1997 was the year of the company's new beginning in wine making, with red wine "Terras do Po tinto", being the first to be produced and bottled on the premises of the Ermelinda Freitas winery.</p>
<p></p><p>It is within the genuine Alentejo, with unique aromas, flavors and textures, of nature, of silence and of immensity, that extend the 80 hectares of vineyard of Herdade Monte da Cal, about 40 km from Portalegre.<br />Surrounded by the tranquility of the north Alentejo plain, it is inserted in the calm environment of the characteristic nature of this zone of the country, surrounded by the infinity of vineyards</p>
<p>In the glass, Monte da Peceguina Red Wine shows a deep ruby color with purple reflections. The nose reveals ripe red fruits, wild berries, and subtle floral notes, while the palate is smooth and elegant, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, persistent finish. Versatile at the table, it pairs beautifully with roasted meats, game dishes, and aged cheeses, and has good ageing potential of 5 to 7 years.</p> <p></p> <p></p>

To the regional development of Trás-os-Montes and the site of Santa Valha and Rio Torto, evidencing the history and wine-growing of these lands, this group allied the identity of its roots to a business project of creation and development of agro-alimentary products of high quality.</p>

The leadership of the largest companies in the wine industry and the promotion of the Alentejo was inspiring for the development of a personal project that took advantage of the best of Pias terroir and Alentejo castes for the creation of unique wines in concentration of color and aromas.</p>
