Cossart Gordon Good Company Full Rich is a rich and indulgent Madeira wine crafted from the Tinta Negra Mole grape variety. It combines vineyards from both the north of the island (near São Vicente) and the south (Câmara de Lobos), at about 200 m altitude. The wine undergoes fermentation on the grape skins with natural yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks (24-26 °C). After ≈48 hours, the fermentation is arrested by fortification (grape brandy), to achieve its signature sweetness. It then undergoes the traditional estufagem process — cyclic heating and cooling between 45-50 °C for 3 months — followed by 3 years ageing in American oak casks.
On the nose, Cossart Gordon Good Company Full Rich Madeira shows a deep, warm amber colour with golden tints. Aromas are rich and powerful, offering dried fruits and toffee. On the palate it is full-bodied, soft and luxurious; warm fruit flavours dominate, balanced by a lingering finish with wood and subtle chocolate notes. With 19% alcohol, about 115 g/L residual sugar and total acidity of 6.00 g/L (tartaric), it is ideal with desserts — especially fruit, chocolate, cakes — and soft cheeses. It is filtered, so decanting isn’t required, and it holds up well for several months after opening.
