Taylor's Very Very Old Port Wine

The Very Very Old (VVOP) is the latest in a series of limited releases of very fine and rare Ports drawn from Taylor Fladgate’s treasury of very very old cask-aged reserves. This unique blend is one of the oldest wines released to date. It is made from a selection of rare lots matured in wood in Taylor’s cellars, some of which have been quietly concentrating to a magical quintessence since before the Second World War.

Deep chestnut brown at the centre gradually fading to amber and a narrow edge of pale straw at the rim. All its complex elements working together in harmony. The nose is intense but finely constituted and the aromas remarkably delicate and ethereal given its great age. Hints of vanilla, cedar wood and cinnamon provide a subtle spicy redolence. On the palate the wine has a light touch displaying bright acidity and perfect balance but holds massive reserves of aroma which emerge on the long finish in a seemingly endless mellow surge. Very few Ports retain such balance and finesse after so many years maturing in cask.

Taylor Fladgate VVOP is bets served after a meal, slowly treasured as a desert in its own right.

TITAN of Távora-Varosa Daemon ‘Sescenti Sexaginta Sex’ (666) is a white wine from an old vineyard, over 140 years old, located in the municipality of Sernancelhe, at an altitude of 850 metres. This vineyard, with an area of 0.80 hectares, grows on granite and quartz soil, with the Cerceal variety predominating among other varieties planted. Winemaking: The winemaking process was very simple and uninterventive: fresh grapes at their ideal point of ripeness, hand-picked into 20kg boxes, were transported to the winery where they underwent careful hand-picking, destemming and gentle crushing. Without pressing, it went straight into new French oak barrels, where it underwent alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation and continued to age for a further 24 months, with the fine lees regularly removed and temperature and humidity controlled.
