Cossart Gordon Bual 15 Years Old Madeira Wine

Cossart Gordon Bual 15-Year-Old is a luxurious Madeira wine made from the Bual grape. It is fermented off the skins with natural yeast in stainless steel at 18-21 °C, then fortified after about 3 days to achieve its elegant sweetness. Aged in American oak casks under the traditional Canteiro method, the wine gently moves from the warm lofts down through cooler floors over the years. It is racked, fined, blended, and bottled when ready to drink. With 19% alcohol, residual sugar of ~90 g/L, total acidity 6.5 g/L (tartaric), and pH around 3.4, it balances richness with brightness

On the nose, Cossart Gordon Bual 15 Year Old displays a clear amber colour with golden-green highlights, and aromas of dried fruits like figs and almonds, warm wood tones, and a touch of vanilla. The palate is mellow and fruit-driven, supported by a solid backbone and finishing warm, long, and luxurious. This wine pairs beautifully with desserts — especially fruit-based cakes, rich chocolate puddings — and also with cheeses. Serve as is, no need to decant, and it will keep for several months once opened

After his death in 1912, a partnership was established between his two sons, Francisco Eduardo and Joaquim Henriques, which gave rise to the name Henriques & Henriques .
From the earliest times, Henriques & Henriques occupied a prominent place in viticulture and the art of making wine.

The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.

In the glass, Cossart Gordon Malvasia Colheita 2008 displays a coppery-gold colour with golden nuances and brilliant clarity. The aroma is intensely characteristic: tea and marmalade, candied fruit and dried fruits such as nuts and hazelnuts. On the palate, the wine is soft, sweet and enveloping, with fresh acidity that supports its long retronasal finish evoking fruit cake, honey and brandy. Best served after dessert or savoured slowly on its own, this Madeira rewards patience and pairs wonderfully with rich, sweet treats

On the nose, Cossart Gordon Rainwater Madeira offers a warm topaz colour with golden reflections, exuding classic aromas of dried fruit, orange peel, and gentle oak. The palate is fresh and balanced, underpinned by a firm citrus backbone that gives lift and structure. Sweetness (about 55 g/L residual sugar) is well matched by total acidity (6.00 g/L as tartaric acid, pH ≈ 3.4), culminating in a lingering, long finish. This Rainwater style Madeira requires no decanting and remains stable for several months once opened, making it both delightful on release and rewarding for those who savour Madeira’s character over time.
