The 23rd edition of the Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2018, held in Neustadt in der Weinstrasse, Germany, between August 30 and September 2, awarded eleven medals to the wines produced by Monte da Ravasqueira, among 154 delivered to Portugal.

Gathering 4,311 wines from all over the world, tasted and classified by a jury of 175 experts from 40 countries, the contest awarded 94 points Ravasqueira Vinha das Romãs.

Born from a unique terroir where, prior to the planting of the vineyard, there was an orchard of Romãs (pomegranates) , the vineyard single Ravasqueira Vinha das Romãs already in 2017 had won a gold medal in the same competition, reflecting the consistency and quality of this iconic José de Mello. A wine that has cemented its position as an icon in Ravasqueira's portfolio but above all, is increasingly a reference among Portuguese wines in the world.

Mundus Vini Summer Tasting 2018 has positioned Portugal in the 5th place in the ranking of the European countries that won the most medals this year, followed by France with 114 medals, with the aim of promoting the quality of the wines and sparkling wines inscribed and boosting their sales.

Monte da Ravasqueira

Connected for three generations to the José de Mello family, Monte da Ravasqueira occupies an area of about 3000 hectares of typical Alentejo landscape.

The quality of a wine begins with the quality of its grapes and these depend on the terroir they inhabit. To a large extent, the terroir depends on the region its in and the conditions it offers. The Alentejo is proof that, sometimes, a single region can spring a surprise and present vastly different realities and characteristics that allow for the production of unique, distinct and differentiated wines.
