Douro wins seven "Great Gold" prizes, Dão six, Alentejo five, Tejo four, Vinho Verde three and Trás-os-Montes three others.
Luís Capoulas Santos, and the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Food, Luís Medeiros Vieira, were present at the ceremony, with 369 medals, of which 36 in the category of Great Gold, 126 of Gold and 207 of silver, according to a statement from the organization, sent to Lusa.
The great prizes of the Concurso Vinhos de Portugal, which distinguish the best among the 369 winners, were distributed in the regions of Porto and Douro, Alentejo, Vinhos Verdes, Tejo, Beira Atlântico and Minho.

One hundred and sixty jurors, Portuguese and foreign, evaluated 1,307 wines, produced by 372 economic agents.
The Vinhos de Portugal Competition is an initiative of ViniPortugal which aims to be a meeting point and exchange of experiences between producers and specialists from all over the world, reaffirming the commitment to the national production of quality wine with the intention of assert themselves as products of excellence in export markets, the organization says.
In this sense, the wines awarded with the Gold and Gold Medals in the Portuguese Wine Competition will have a guaranteed presence in international events of excellence to be held in 2018, such as ProWine Shanghai, Japan's Romantic Encounter, Hamburg Campus and the Warsaw Trials, Luanda, Zurich, New York and Oslo and also for tasting moments throughout the year at the Museum La Cité du Vin.
