Quinta do Pégo is located in the Demarcated Region of Douro, more precisely in the sub-region of Cima Corgo, very close to Vila do Pinhão. It is also located in the heart of the UNESCO-listed region as a World Heritage Site.
The grapes that grow in this area are considered of high quality and as such are used for the production of Vintage Port and Late Bottled Vintage Wines as well as elegant DOP Red Wines.
With its fantastic color changes, the Douro River Valley is a place to be explored all year round. The harvest, which is one of the highlights of the region, begins around mid-September, during which manual harvesting of grapes on steep terraces can be experienced.
Quinta do Pégo is undoubtedly one of the most superb properties in the Douro River Valley. The landscape view from the balcony, approximately 138 meters above sea level, is spectacular. Currently Quinta do Pégo has 30ha planted with vines.
The soil is marked with the letter "A", the highest classification in the region. Porto Vintage 2000, the first wine to be bottled with the name of Quinta do Pégo, was produced with grapes from the original vineyards - a fantastic manual work that would mark the course of the following years.
According to historical documents, the Quinta's wine production dates back to 1548 and most likely to the Roman occupation. Nowadays, Port wine and high-quality Red Douro wines are sold a little worldwide. It is a "must see" place with wines "obligatory to taste".
