The winemaking operation has been a family activity for several generations, in the beginning they were delivering their grapes at the Adega Cooperativa. In 1999, with the end of the superior studies in Viticulture and Enology of João Paulo Gouveia, son of João Coelho Gouveia, they decide to create their own wine. The vineyards were restructured, others were acquired and a modern wine cellar was built and with a high technology, all respecting the culture of the Dão demarcated region. <p></p><p>This fortified wine dates back to the 14th century and reached its golden period by the laborious hands and sharp mind of Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo - Marquês de Pombal and Conde de Oeiras. Carcavelos' wine ran the world. It entered the most varied cultures. It has even given part of its 'soul' to Port wine in order to give it a 'body' and a superior taste. From this fertile and auspicious period, it fell to levels that without the intervention of the municipality was expected to cease to exist.</p> <p>It took hold and recovered and today, the vineyard continues to produce, on the hillside facing the Tejo, in the land that has always been fertile, shaken by the wind that is typical of us, the grape varieties.
