Casal Santa Maria is located in the historic Colares region, on the hillside of the Serra de Sintra, 2 km from Cabo da Roca - the most Western point in Europe. 

After 100 years, they brought the vineyards back to life, modernized the winery and produced red and white wines in a traditional way with high quality and national and international recognition.
Under the loamy loamy soils with large granite outcrops, rich in organic matter, a result of the Arabian Horses Studying here in the 70s and 80s, the vines found great comfort and adapted to the oceanic climate that sometimes punishes the vineyard with Strong north winds.
The Portuguese varieties chosen were Malvasia de Colares, Arinto and Alvarinho. Then there's Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Petit Manseng. In the case of the red wines they planted Touriga Nacional, Merlot and Pinot Noir, revealing the latter a spectacular adaptation to Colares.
