José Portela (1976) was born and raised in Torres Vedras, where he studied oenology, graduating later in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Évora. His work with several renowned brands in Alentejo and Ribatejo allowed him to gain valuable experience before completing graduate studies in oenology at the University of Évora in 2009. He is the resident oenologist of Quinta do Quetzal since its foundation.
