<p>Quinta de La Rosa Colheita 2012 Port Wine is a product of Quinta de la Rosa, nestled in the Douro region. This Port Wine exemplifies a high-quality vintage, handpicked from the best harvests. The estate practices sustainable farming, with the grapes manually selected before being foot-trodden in granite lagares, following traditional methods.<br /><br />The principal grape varieties used are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousão, Tinta Roriz, and in some versions Tinta Barroca. These high-quality grapes are grown in Category A vineyards, on steep slopes along the Douro River, up to about 500 meters in altitude.<br /><br />After fermentation, the wine is aged for at least seven years in classic wooden barrels, some of which are over 100 years old. This lengthy period of wood maturation bestows upon the Colheita a complex character that is elegant and well-balanced, combining the youthful energy of the fruit with tertiary nuances of dried fruit, spices, and floral notes.<br /><br />The wine's aroma is a medley of licorice, dark chocolate, vanilla, dried fruits, black cherry, plum, and toffee. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a good viscosity, balanced sweetness with acidity, and a long, elegant, and fresh finish.<br /><br />This Colheita pairs well with chocolate desserts, Black Forest cake, mature or blue cheeses, foie gras, or can simply be enjoyed pure as a digestif. Although it is ready for consumption, this Colheita has the potential to evolve until 2032, maintaining its freshness and elegance, making it ideal for refined tasting or as a gift.</p>

<p></p><p><span>Quinta de la Rosa port wine is made each year in the traditional manner, trodden in granite lagares from grapes grown at Quinta de la Rosa. Each year they keep back a small quantity of their best ports LBV quality and above. It is from these stocks that they blend their Tonel 12. This blending occurs on a regular basis to ensure that stocks are always fresh. For many years, before 1988, when they started selling port under the La Rosa brand, the Bergqvist family used to go down to 'Tonel 12' (a large 25 pipe barrel kept in the lodge under the house) and fill their decanter full of delicious ten year old tawny direct from the barrel. To this day they still refer to Tonel 12, instead of ten year old tawny, and decided to keep the name on the label</span></p>

<p></p><p><span>Quinta de la Rosa  Tawny 30 year old has a beautiful amber colour showing its age well.  The long, slow maturation in old wooden pipes (550L barrels) has given this magnificent wine enormous elegance and complexity. On the nose, slightly dried fruit aromas with touches of balsamic vinegar, coffee and exotic wood are just some of its components.  On the palate, it is simply delicious, almost light but with incredible intensity of flavour, soft, mouth filling with great persistence.</span></p>
