Quinta de La Rosa Vintage 2012 Port Wine (375ml)

Quinta de La Rosa Vintage 2012 is a remarkable Port wine showcasing a dense, deep, and highly concentrated violet hue. It releases an intoxicatingly aromatic bouquet of ripe black fruit, cherry, plum, with subtle floral notes, dark chocolate, and fine spices. On the palate, it is full-bodied, intense, and structured, flaunting firm yet elegant tannins that contribute to its enormous depth. This wine leaves a lasting impression with its very long finish.

All ports at Quinta de la Rosa are made in the ‘house style’ namely slightly drier without any cloying sweetness that is often associated with ports. As in their wines, they search for balance, harmony and equilibrium from their vineyards and they try to enable the grapes to express themselves in the bottle. The La Rosa style is to make well defined wines without too much extraction and tannin

Great concentration of colour with wonderful complex aromas of black and red fruits. It is a full bodied, profound port with fresh clean flavours and mature tannins that give it a lively, long finish

Quinta de La Rosa Colheita 2012 Port Wine is a product of Quinta de la Rosa, nestled in the Douro region. This Port Wine exemplifies a high-quality vintage, handpicked from the best harvests. The estate practices sustainable farming, with the grapes manually selected before being foot-trodden in granite lagares, following traditional methods.

The principal grape varieties used are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousão, Tinta Roriz, and in some versions Tinta Barroca. These high-quality grapes are grown in Category A vineyards, on steep slopes along the Douro River, up to about 500 meters in altitude.

After fermentation, the wine is aged for at least seven years in classic wooden barrels, some of which are over 100 years old. This lengthy period of wood maturation bestows upon the Colheita a complex character that is elegant and well-balanced, combining the youthful energy of the fruit with tertiary nuances of dried fruit, spices, and floral notes.

The wine's aroma is a medley of licorice, dark chocolate, vanilla, dried fruits, black cherry, plum, and toffee. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a good viscosity, balanced sweetness with acidity, and a long, elegant, and fresh finish.

This Colheita pairs well with chocolate desserts, Black Forest cake, mature or blue cheeses, foie gras, or can simply be enjoyed pure as a digestif. Although it is ready for consumption, this Colheita has the potential to evolve until 2032, maintaining its freshness and elegance, making it ideal for refined tasting or as a gift.

Quinta de la Rosa port wine is made each year in the traditional manner, trodden in granite lagares from grapes grown at Quinta de la Rosa. Each year they keep back a small quantity of their best ports LBV quality and above. It is from these stocks that they blend their Tonel 12. This blending occurs on a regular basis to ensure that stocks are always fresh. For many years, before 1988, when they started selling port under the La Rosa brand, the Bergqvist family used to go down to 'Tonel 12' (a large 25 pipe barrel kept in the lodge under the house) and fill their decanter full of delicious ten year old tawny direct from the barrel. To this day they still refer to Tonel 12, instead of ten year old tawny, and decided to keep the name on the label
