The Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal was founded in 1926 by Abel Pereira da Fonseca . Nowadays, this company is dedicated to the exploration of three estates in the demarcated region of Óbidos - Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras and Quinta de S. Francisco.
Located 40 minutes away from Lisbon, these estates represent the most prestigious Óbidos DOC wines.

The grapes were vinified separately. After destemmed, they are slightly crushed and transferred to stainless steel vats, where the must undergoes fermentation with prolonged maceration for 15 days at a temperature of 25º-27ºC

<p>"Proibido", a distinguished wine, traces its roots to the Old Vines aged between 40 and 80 years, originating from Vila Nova de Foz Côa. The grapes are grown in small parcels of land facing either north or east, situated between the altitudes of 250m and 500m. Each step of the cultivation process is meticulously carried out by hand, without the use of any herbicides or pesticides. In 2017, this meticulous process culminated in a wine that perfectly married an abundance of aroma and flavor, producing a wine with a remarkable aging potential.</p>
