<p></p><p>At the end of the 90's, with the development of the activity, João Pedro Araújo's family decided to acquire Quinta da Vegia, in order to start producing red wines.</p><p>Located in the Dão Region, next to the town of Penalva do Castelo, it currently has 20 ha of vineyards. His mindset followed a careful choice of grape varieties - Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Alfrocheiro and Tinto Cão, Encruzado and Bical - in order to create Quinta da Vegia wines.</p>

This vineyard, called Negrosa, is in Vila Nova de Tazem, Serra da Estrela sub-region. The main characteristics are the altitude – 470 to 500 meters, the soil composition – granite stones and sand, and the age of the vines – approximately 30 years old. Delicate aromas with fruit character and some balsamic and peppery notes. Very elegant in the mouth with high felling of freshness and great complexity and concentration. <p>On the tasting notes, the Casa da Passarella Villa Oliveira Touriga Nacional displays an opaque red color. The aroma is intensely perfumed with notes of red fruits (like cherry, blackberry), spices, violet, cassis, pepper, leather, and licorice. On the palate, it's a full-bodied, fresh, and elegant wine, with firm but well-integrated tannins, and a long, persistent finish. Touriga Nacional imparts great structure and aging potential to this wine. For food pairing, this robust and aromatic wine is ideal with structured meat dishes, such as roasted meats, red meats, game (like venison), and intense cheeses, such as Queijo da Serra da Estrela. Its richness and tannins allow it to complement dishes high in fat and protein.</p>
