Vinha Negrosa is blend of Jaen Vinha Negrosa is blend of Jaen (50%) and Alfrocheiro (50%), the varieties we found more interesting to show a better interpretation of the terroir where the vines are. This vineyard, called Negrosa, is in Vila Nova de Tazem, Serra da Estrela sub-region. The main characteristics are the altitude – 470 to 500 meters, the soil composition – granite stones and sand, and the age of the vines – approximately 30 years old. Delicate aromas with fruit character and some balsamic and peppery notes. Very elegant in the mouth with high felling of freshness and great complexity and concentration. It has a lot of potential to age in bottle.50%) and Alfrocheiro (50%), the varieties we found more interesting to show a better interpretation of the terroir where the vines are. Dão Rosé Wine 2021 | Pretexto Palhete Portuguese Vinho

€15.79
Wine House Portugal ,

What this Dão rosé is

Pretexto Palhete 2021 is a Portuguese Dão rosé produced via co-fermentation of 70% red grapes (Jaen and Alfrocheiro) and 30% white grapes (Encruzado and Bical). Sourced from altitude vineyards on granitic soils, it showcases the balance and complexity characteristic of traditional Dão winemaking.

In the glass

An intense coral-pink colour introduces delicate spice aromas with discreet berry fruit notes. Whole-bunch fermentation contributes subtle green notes that add genuine complexity to the aromatic profile. On the palate, crisp acidity provides freshness and structure, this is a wine built for the table, not the aperitif hour.

Food pairing and serving

What makes the difference here is the interplay between the indigenous red and white varieties, delivering sufficient acidity and aromatic lift to pair with light fish dishes, shellfish, fresh salads, and delicate poultry. Serve chilled at 8–10°C to bring out the mineral edge from the granite terroir. To avoid: pairing this with heavily spiced or rich red-meat dishes, which will overwhelm it.

Terroir and technical details

Altitude vineyards in the Dão region, where granitic soils and a cool climate slow ripening and preserve acidity in these traditional Portuguese varieties. The 2021 vintage reflects cool, precise growing conditions, worth noting for those who favour restraint over exuberance. The 75cl format is suited to both personal enjoyment and gifting.
