Real Companhia Velha is the oldest and most emblematic wine company in Portugal, celebrating 260 years in the service of port wine. The company owns some of the Douro region finest vineyards to produce white port wine, red port wine and Premium port such as vintage and colheitas.
<p></p><p>Fonseca has belonged to the first rank of Vintage Port producers since the nineteenth century. Its Vintage Ports are noted for their luscious fruitiness which develops great opulence and complexity with age.</p> <p>This Brand was created in 1815 by two families, Fonseca and Monteiro. Then came the Guimaraens family who led the firm for over the century and established its reputation as a 'first growth' Vintage Port house. And finally the Yeatmans and their descendants who steered the company successfully through the second half of the 20th century and into the new millennium.</p> <p>Fonseca Bin 27, Fonseca Vintage, Quinta do Panascal and Fonseca Guimaraens Vintage are their most famous Port wines</p> <p></p> <p></p>

The brand's history is intertwined with the history of the evolution of the Douro Region (demarcated in 1756) and its Porto and table wines (Douro DOC).</p> <p>Dona Antonia, endowed with exceptional energy and a rare commercial talent gave great impetus to wine-growing in Douro and was well-known for her acts of social welfare in the region. Her intelligence and kindness earned her the warm admiration of her contemporaries, who affectionately nicknamed her "Ferreirinha" (little Ferreira). <br />Today, more than 250 years later, Ferreira is "the Portuguese brand", the benchmark in excellent quality Porto and Douro wine as "Porto Ferreira", "Barca Vellha" "Reserva Especial", "Callabriga", "Quinta da Leda" and "Antónia Adelaide Ferreira", the symbol of a country and a culture it proudly honours.</p> <p> </p>
