D'Oliveiras Verdelho 2000 Medium Dry Madeira Wine

This special harvest of Madeira wine was selected from a year of very fine vintage of a single grape variety, the production of which as assured by control of the quality of the grapes, ideal ripening conditions, and a process of vinification which combines modern technology with our art of wine-making learned over a century of experience

The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.

On the palate, Cossart Gordon 5 Years Old Bual Madeira shows a clear amber colour with hints of gold. Aromas of dried fruit, vanilla, wood and toffee fill the nose. The palate is medium-sweet, smooth, and rounded, balancing fruitiness with vibrant acidity. With 19% alcohol, around 85 g/L sugar, and an acidity of 6.5 g/L (tartaric), this wine shines as an after-dinner treat and pairs beautifully with fruit, milk chocolate, cakes or strong cheeses. It’s bottled ready to enjoy, and remains good for several months after opening.
