D'Oliveiras Terrantez 1971 Medium Dry Madeira Wine
This is a very old and rare Madeira wine, classified as "FRASQUEIRA" that was part of the wine collection of the family that own this wine company. It is made from Terrantez a noble grape variety in years when the quality is high and the harvest is excellent, using grapes from the best vines of Madeira Island

<p></p><p>At room temperature, or just a little cooler, this wine makes a wonderful aperitif, especially when served with salted almonds, olives or nuggets of Parmesan. It is also excellent when served with starters such as pat foie-gras, duck confit, welsh rarebit, game terrine or Yorkshire Pudding and onion gravy.</p>
<p></p><p>The story of Henriques & Henriques, founded by João Gonçalves Henriques, dates back to 1850. After his death in 1912, a partnership was established between his two sons, Francisco Eduardo and Joaquim Henriques, which gave rise to the name Henriques & Henriques .<br />From the earliest times, Henriques & Henriques occupied a prominent place in viticulture and the art of making wine. In 1913 the family interests were constituted in a company of the family that, in 1925, began its activity like exporter of its wines to the detriment of the local supply to other exporters</p>

<p></p><p>This Sercial of 1978 was aged by the method of "Canteiro" in old casks of French Carvalho since February of 1979. In February of 2008 I transferred the wine to bottles of 60 liters where it has maintained until today. In this way it was possible to control the rapid concentration that this wine recorded, while it was in the process of aging in the pipes during 29 years, maintaining the balance between the sweetness and the acidity that I believe to be the ideal in this wine.</p>
<p>Brilliant topaz in colour with golden highlights, Cossart Gordon Colheita Bual 2008 reveals enticing aromas of figs, prunes, vanilla, and fine oak. On the palate, it is medium-sweet, smooth, and full-bodied, with flavours of dried fruit and toffee lifted by fresh acidity. The finish is long and elegant, making it a perfect choice to enjoy with desserts, fruit cakes, or to savour on its own as a contemplative wine.</p>
