<p></p><p>The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.</p>

<p>In the glass, Cossart Gordon Verdelho Colheita 2009 shows an open topaz colour with golden nuances and brilliant clarity. The nose offers an intense and characteristic bouquet, featuring exotic wood, candied fruits and iodine notes. On the palate it is medium-dry, fresh and saline, with a long spicy finish and hints of brandy and dried fruit. At 20% ABV, balanced acidity and about 62 g/L residual sugar, this Madeira is refined and rewarding—perfect with savoury courses, mild cheeses, or as a contemplative wine to enjoy on its own.</p>

The aroma is intensely characteristic: tea and marmalade, candied fruit and dried fruits such as nuts and hazelnuts. On the palate, the wine is soft, sweet and enveloping, with fresh acidity that supports its long retronasal finish evoking fruit cake, honey and brandy. Best served after dessert or savoured slowly on its own, this Madeira rewards patience and pairs wonderfully with rich, sweet treats</p>
