John Blandy, the founder of Blandy’s arrived in Madeira in 1808. In 1811 he founded his own business as a wine shipper and general trader, with brothers Thomas and George, and started to set the foundation for the family and the island itself with the production of the most famous and unique wine in the world – Madeira wine

It is excellent as an aperitif but is also exceedingly good with soups, feathered game and pates
Tasting Notes
Clear topaz colour, with a golden hue right up to the rim. Elegant bouquet of dried fruits, wood and spices. Fresh and medium dry, balanced by a very fine acidity. Long aftertaste of wood, spices and dried fruits
Vinification
Ferrmentation off the skins with natural yeast at temperatures between 18°C - 21°C in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. After 4 days, fortification with grape brandy takes place, arresting fermentation at the desired degree of sweetness
Ageing
20 years in seasoned American oak casks in the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system
