Bons Ares 2024 White Wine

Bons Ares White is visually clean and bright, with its characteristic pale greenish colour. On the nose it is perfumed, intense and embracing with fresh varietal aromas but considerably mature notes, typical of 2015, such as peach and apricot. In the mouth it is very balanced and smooth, initially being revealed as citric and mineral. A long and very interesting finish

Quinta dos Bons Ares is located in the Douro Superior in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa. The granite soils and altitude (600m) make this terroir very special and give the grapes structure, acidity and aromatic potential unusual in this region. The other peculiarity of this Bons Ares White is the blend between the new world and the old, between the traditional grape varieties, such as Viosinho and Rabigato, and the international Sauvignon Blanc. This wine from Casa Ramos Pinto is a good example of innovative tradition. A modern classic

The Quinta Pedra da Cancela is the fruit of the passion for the wine of the Gouveia family. The winemaking operation has been a family activity for several generations, in the beginning they were delivering their grapes at the Adega Cooperativa. In 1999, with the end of the superior studies in Viticulture and Enology of João Paulo Gouveia, son of João Coelho Gouveia, they decide to create their own wine. The vineyards were restructured, others were acquired and a modern wine cellar was built and with a high technology, all respecting the culture of the Dão demarcated region. In 2014 the name of the company became Pedra Cancela Vinhos do Dão Lda

The indigenous varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, for the reds and Gouveio, Rabigato and Viosinho for white, allow them to achieve all the personality and character of the terroirs of the Douro. Combining cutting-edge winemaking with the traditional foot treading in granite mills (lagares), the aim is to produce wines with excellent value money with recognized quality worldwide, international profile and the nature of their homeland. The excellence of the wine culture, the use of traditional varieties, as well as the structural conditions of the region and the human project, has constituted the secret of success. The Douro is actually unique, singular. The wines deserve attention from critics regarding the quality and sales, both domestically and in export markets, have increased. It is the wish of the Quinta dos Avidagos also to join to the existing range of products, a Port wine in the future

It is first mentioned in a document dated April 1738 but it was only in 1903, when Dom José Freire de Serpa Pimentel decided to develop his interest in oenology, began to seriously dedicate himself to the risky business of winemaking.
