Inóspito Vinhas Velhas Chão de Areia is a unique white wine crafted from over 120-year-old vines located in high-altitude, sandy granite soils in the Douro region. This field blend includes traditional Portuguese grape varieties such as Rabigato, Viosinho, Gouveio, Códega do Larinho, Síria, and Folgasão. Harvested manually in early September, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts. The wine is aged for 10 months on full lees in both new and used French oak barrels, enhancing its structure and complexity.
With 12.5% alcohol and bright acidity (6.8 g/L), Inóspito Vinhas Velhas Chão de Areia White Wine shows a crisp, mineral profile with tropical notes on the nose and a long, textured finish. Its elegant structure and vibrant freshness make it an excellent pairing for seafood, roasted cod, or aged cheeses like Serra da Estrela. Only 5,856 bottles were produced, highlighting its exclusive, terroir-driven character.
