O Estrangeiro 2023 White Wine

O Estrangeiro is a great Dão wine, elegant and sophisticated. It is the result of a field blend of old vines planted in granite soil. The climate is temperate with wide temperature variations, especially during ripening and harvest.

O Estrangeiro White Wine has a citrus colour, aromas of pronounced minerality with hints of flint and good oakiness. Marked acidity providing intense freshness. Relevant unctuousness and final structure with longevity.

Perfect with appetisers, seafood, grilled lean fish, grilled fatty fish, fish in a pan, oven-baked fish.

Pretexto white is a blend of the traditional grapes from high altitude vines and granitic soils of Dão wine region. The grapes that make up this blend are mostly Encruzado and Bical, and Gouveio, Malvasia Fina and Cerceal Branco in a small percentage. Naturally fermented and aged in the same vats of cement and stainless steel is a very pleasant wine, with creaminess and complexity that already allows pairing with some gastronomy. It is a white blend that speaks for the vineyards and soils that originate it.

Pinhanços is a magic slope that is like a balcony facing the majestic “Serra da Estrela”. Here we have an amazing view of rough cutted ridges that seem like brodery on a towel of an altar that sometimes is immaculated white. On each hill side, a small vilage, a chapel. And small streams wrinkle the landscape, running frightned but quietly slipping to the sea

On the tasting notes, the Taboadella Encruzado typically displays a crystalline brilliance with a citrus to straw-yellow color. The aroma offers a complex bouquet of citrus notes, white stone fruits, melon, and often floral overtones, which can evolve into hazelnut, resin, and subtle spice with age. On the palate, it's described as firm and exuberant, with a silky, waxy, and creamy texture balanced by a crisp, linear, mineral acidity. This full-bodied and lively wine, with notable depth and a long finish, pairs exceptionally well with a variety of dishes. It's ideal for seafood, rich fish, structured white meats, creamy risottos, and aged or semi-soft cheeses.
