Casa da Passarella Abanico Reserva White 2023 White Wine

Casa da Passarella Abanico White Wine is a notable white wine from the Dão region of Portugal, produced by the acclaimed Casa da Passarella. This wine is a classic blend reflecting the essence of the estate's terroir and the winery's philosophy of valuing indigenous grape varieties and traditional methods. It is crafted from a wide range of native Dão grape varieties, including Bical, Cerceal, Barcelo, and Terrantez. Winemaking involves fermentation in traditional cement vats, sometimes in French oak barrels, with pre- and post-fermentative maceration. Aging on fine lees for about 9 months in large oak barrels contributes to its complexity, body, and elegance

When tasting, expect a bright citrus color, sometimes with greenish hues. The aroma is citrusy and complex, with notes of white fruits (pear, apple), floral touches, mineral nuances (flint, chert), and subtle hints of spices or buttery notes from well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fresh, and elegant, with vibrant acidity providing liveliness and balance. White fruit and citrus flavors persist, leading to a long and harmonious finish. This wine's structure, freshness, and complexity make it highly versatile for food pairing, ideal with fatty fish, seafood, grilled fish dishes, white meats, rich vegetarian dishes, and soft or semi-cured cheeses.

The Dão Rótulo Touriga Nacional is a single-variety wine produced from one of Portugal’s most renowned grapes. We know the Dão region’s characteristics well, therefore we have tried to tame the exuberance and intensity of this variety by putting emphasis on acidity, crispness and low alcohols. Unwooded, unadulterated and linear, this wine makes a good food partner.

This location allows excellent thermal amplitudes for a good maturation of the grapes leading to its slow maturation producing wines with rich aromas and good acidity.
