Quinta do Salvante is a traditional family-run wine estate located in Santa Valha, in the Trás-os-Montes region of northern Portugal, deeply rooted in centuries of viticultural history. The estate’s origins trace back to the early 20th century when the family planted vineyards on granite soils at around 500 meters in altitude, creating a unique terroir for artisanal wine production. Over generations, the family cultivated these vines by hand, preserving old-world methods alongside modern improvements; in 2019, the current generation built a new winery that blends respect for tradition with contemporary facilities for better fermentation and aging.

Today Quinta do Salvante is led by members of the same family who continue to honour their heritage by producing a range of wines from their ancient vineyards. They champion native and mixed plantings, often using grapes from old vines to express the character of the land, and have even revived traditional practices such as fermentation in rock-dug lagares (stone wine presses) to craft distinctive wines in limited quantities. The producer has gained recognition for both its white and red wines that reflect the complexity and freshness of Trás-os-Montes, and its commitment to craftsmanship celebrates not only the quality of the wine but also the resilience and passion of the family behind it.
