With its unique biodiversity, the implantation of 20ha of vineyards in the Herdade da Aldeia de Cima, projected until 2020, accompanies the different level curves of the slopes and valleys, and occupies two distinct terroirs: one on the plateau, 289 to 300 metres above sea level, and another in the Serra do Mendro, 300 to 380 metres above sea level,
Herdade Aldeia de Cima Garrafeira Red is a highly prestigious Alentejo wine made from the Alicante Bouschet and Aragonez grape varieties, recognised for its great intensity and depth. It has a deep, intense ruby colour and a remarkably complex aroma, with notes of ripe black fruit, resin, tobacco and dark chocolate, complemented by nuances reminiscent of the forest and the terroir.
On the palate, this Garrafeira Tinto is serious and robust, with great volume and rich ripe fruit well balanced with notes of tobacco and chocolate. Its refined tannins and solid structure, combined with the vibrant acidity of the Serra do Mendro, give it a strong and lasting personality, with a very persistent and long finish. Consistent and praised by critics with scores such as 95 points from Robert Parker, it is a wine with great ageing potential.
