All ports at Quinta de la Rosa are made in the ‘house style’ namely slightly drier without any cloying sweetness that is often associated with ports. As in their wines, they search for balance, harmony and equilibrium from their vineyards and they try to enable the grapes to express themselves in the bottle. The La Rosa style is to make well defined wines without too much extraction and tannin

On the nose, Palacio dos Távoras Tinta Gorda Red Wine reveals ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and earthy undertones, framed by subtle spice and well-integrated oak. The palate is full-bodied and smooth, with soft tannins and a lingering finish. Ideal for pairing with hearty dishes like roasted lamb, wild mushroom risotto, or aged cheeses, this wine is perfect for special meals or elegant gatherings.

The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.

In Zambujeira do Mar, where the high temperatures of the Alentejo are mitigated by the Atlantic, the concentration typical of inland viticulture is balanced by the freshness and humidity of the sea, leading to ideal maturation. The grapes ripen, thus, in a slow and balanced way, with cool and wet winters, mild summers and the constant presence of the sea winds, creating wines where elegance overrides robustness.
