This wine has a clean deep ruby red in color, warm and sweet aroma of ripe berries and cassis jam, balanced sweet taste and correct acidity, the fruit is blended with intense chocolota and the oak is well integrated.
Vinification
The grapes are crushed and totally pulled out from the stalks, fermentation with strong maceration, inerrupted by wine brandy addiction.

<p>Located in the heart of the Douro, Quinta do Sagrado has 20 hectares of terraced vineyards. The vineyards planted in 14 plots separated by vineyards, in addition to its privileged situation, washed by the river and impacted by all the diversity of the Douro, give Quinta a unique production of quality and high reputation.</p>
<p>Colheitas are dated Tawnies aged in small casks. The minimum age requirement is 7 years, but the tradition at Niepoort is to age several more years before bottling. The wine takes on a Tawny hue. Wood and nutty tones are evident on the palate due to the wine’s slow ageing in old casks. Colheita goes well with dry fruits desserts and the portuguese "Leite Creme queimado". As a starter, the combination with foie gras is impressive</p>

<p>Founded in 1920 by the brothers José, Manuel and Albano Costa, Caves São João is a family business that, in the beginning, was dedicated to the marketing of fine Douro wines and liqueurs. Today, it is the oldest family business still operating in the municipality of Anadia.</p>
