Poças Colheita 2015 Port Wine

Poças Colheita 2015 Port Wine, with its chestnut-red color, is an excellent digestive that pairs wonderfully with sweet desserts like crème bruleé, apple tart, pastel de nata, milk chocolate, and French toast. It's best served at 18°C/64°F or slightly chilled. Once bottled, this wine is ready for consumption and retains its qualities. Its aroma teases with notes of cocoa, dried fig, and caramel, while the palate is greeted with a silky, fresh, and harmonious attack. The cocoa notes prevail in a long and elegant finish

Poças Colheita 2015 Port Wine is a superior quality port, originating from a single harvest, and aged in barrels for at least seven years. During this process, the youthful, fresh, and fruity aromas evolve into a complex and elegant bouquet, perfectly balanced by a velvety texture and a persistent finish. This wine represents a perfect blend of tradition and quality, showcasing the unique characteristics of the 2015 harvest, and the exquisite craftsmanship of Poças winemakers. The result is a port wine that not only embodies the rich heritage of its region but also offers a distinct and memorable tasting experience.

The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.

The story of Dow’s is unusual amongst all the great Port houses. It began in 1798 when Bruno da Silva, a Portuguese merchant from Oporto, made a journey which was the opposite to that of the first British merchants. The Port shipping business was continued by Bruno’s son, John da Silva who in 1862 brought into partnership Frederick William Cosens. With the continuing expansion of the firm, Edward da Silva and Frederick Cosens were joined by George Acheson Warre, whose well known family had been involved in the Port trade since its earliest years. In 1877, Silva & Cosens merged with another leading Port company, Dow & Co.

Although smaller than Silva & Cosens, Dow & Co had become a very highly regarded Port producer with a particularly fine reputation for its Vintage Ports and when the two companies merged, it was decided to adopt DOW’S as the brand name

For over two centuries the name of DOW has been associated with the finest Port from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley. Throughout the 20th Century and into the 21st, the Symington family has built on the legacy of the preceding Silva and Dow families.

Dow’s attractive and distinctive drier finish is the recognisable hallmark of the wines from this great Port house.
