The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.

<p>On the palate, Cossart Gordon Sercial 5 Years Old Madeira shows a topaz colour with golden reflections and a classic Madeira bouquet: dried fruits, wood, and orange peel notes. It is dry and fresh, with a crisp citrus backbone and a long, refreshing aftertaste. With an alcohol content of <strong>19% ABV</strong>, residual sugar of ~<strong>35 g/L</strong>, and a total acidity of <strong>6.00 g/L</strong> (tartaric), it works excellently as an aperitif or paired with starters, white fish, or spicy/Indian cuisine. Bottled ready to drink, and stable for several months after opening.</p>
<p></p><p>Harmony depends on three factors: degree of sweetness, acidity and alcohol. The late enough in the mouth is prolonged, irrespective of their degree of sweetness.</p>
<p>Brilliant topaz in colour with golden highlights, Cossart Gordon Colheita Bual 2008 reveals enticing aromas of figs, prunes, vanilla, and fine oak. On the palate, it is medium-sweet, smooth, and full-bodied, with flavours of dried fruit and toffee lifted by fresh acidity. The finish is long and elegant, making it a perfect choice to enjoy with desserts, fruit cakes, or to savour on its own as a contemplative wine.</p>
<p>With an alcohol content of 19% ABV, a residual sugar of 70 g/L, and total acidity of 6.00 g/L (tartaric acid), Cossart Gordon Verdelho 5 Years Old Madeira presents a clear topaz colour with golden hues. On the nose it offers the classic Madeira profile—intense and complex, with dried fruit, wood and spice notes. On the palate it is medium-dry, fresh and assertive, featuring orange peel alongside raisin-like fruit, giving a well-balanced and lingering taste. Served as an aperitif, it also pairs beautifully with soups, game birds, and pâtés, and remains enjoyable for several months once opened.</p>
<p></p><p>The total area of the island of Madeira is 732 Km2 and the extension of the Wine Region is about 500 hectares. It is a unique landscape and characterized by the rugged orography of the relief. Particular soil conditions of volcanic origin, mostly basaltic, and proximity to the sea, associated with the climatic conditions, where the summers are hot and humid and the mild winters, give the wine unique and unique characteristics</p>
