<p></p><p>For more than 20 years, the name João Portugal Ramos has been associated with Portuguese wines, first as a consulting winemaker for well known brands of wine and since 1992 as a bottling producer.</p> <p>The success and the prizes accumulated throughout his career have earned him the national and international recognition as one of the main responsible for the evolution of the Portuguese wines in the last decade.</p> <p>The Alentejo was the region chosen to produce its first wines. In 1990, João Portugal Ramos planted the first five hectares of vineyard in Estremoz, where he has lived since 1988, starting his personal project. It expanded its activity beyond the Alentejo from 1989, reaching Ribatejo, Beiras, Douro and Vinho Verde</p>
<p></p><p>The Barão de Vilar - Vinhos, S.A. is the most recent company of Port Wine, having been constituted, in January 1996, from a stock of wines acquired by Fernando Luiz van Zeller, ceded to his two sons Fernando and Álvaro.<br />Its social denomination recovers a nobiliárquico title granted by D. Maria II of Portugal to Cristiano Nicolau Kopke, the 1st Baron of Vilar, in 1836, that, by descent, is in direct possession of the family</p>
<p></p><p>Since 1751 Ferreira name has always been synonymous with high-quality Portuguese wine. The brand's history is intertwined with the history of the evolution of the Douro Region (demarcated in 1756) and its Porto and table wines (Douro DOC).</p> <p>Dona Antonia, endowed with exceptional energy and a rare commercial talent gave great impetus to wine-growing in Douro and was well-known for her acts of social welfare in the region. Her intelligence and kindness earned her the warm admiration of her contemporaries, who affectionately nicknamed her "Ferreirinha" (little Ferreira). <br />Today, more than 250 years later, Ferreira is "the Portuguese brand", the benchmark in excellent quality Porto and Douro wine as "Porto Ferreira", "Barca Vellha" "Reserva Especial", "Callabriga", "Quinta da Leda" and "Antónia Adelaide Ferreira", the symbol of a country and a culture it proudly honours.</p> <p> </p> <p></p>
