The company was founded in 1926 by Mr. Messias Baptista, who served as chairman until 1973. The management is still held by the descendants of MESSIAS family. Since its foundation that MESSIAS has been producing and selling high quality wines from the main demarcated regions: Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Vinho do Porto. The company is also known for the high quality of its Champagne method Sparkling wines and aged Brandies

The brand's history is intertwined with the history of the evolution of the Douro Region (demarcated in 1756) and its Porto and table wines (Douro DOC).</p> <p>Dona Antonia, endowed with exceptional energy and a rare commercial talent gave great impetus to wine-growing in Douro and was well-known for her acts of social welfare in the region. <p></p><p>Pacheca Moscatel Galego White Wine is a very balanced and elegant wine. It has, as is typical of the variety, an exuberant aroma with notes of citrus and linden flowers and honey. The mouth is "seasoned" by acidity and minerality, ensuring a delicious freshness.</p>
<p></p><p>Quinta do Javali White Wine presents a light yellow color. Nose characterized by white and yellow pulp fruit, with a balanced ripeness. In the mouth, the fruity component reappears, associated with a “gastronomic” acidity</p>
<p></p><p>The production of wines is a familiar tradition for Domingos Alves de Sousa: his father and grandfather had already been Douro winemakers.</p>
