Being the youngest of the 4 Tawny with an indication of age, the Vasques de Carvalho 10 Years presents an elegance and a unique distinction in its category, which marks the profile of the company in wines aged in wood
The history of the family Vasques de Carvalho has roots as strong as a vine and is confused with the history of the Douro. Its origins date back to the mid-nineteenth century and the family wine company, which has always transformed its production into generous wine, selling part to the exporting houses and aging another part, adding value.

J. H. Andresen founded in 1845 one of the only 100% family-owned Portuguese Port houses. All Andresen Ports are producer in the heart of the Douro. The 40 hectares of A-graded vineyards assure the excellent of the most premium Ports of the Andresen range

Poças port wines are renewed for being elegant, agreeable, slightly dry and even to perfect. The privileged location of the vineyards, meticulous winemaking and aging in wood, produce a range of excellent port wine. Ruby, LBV and vintage ports have earned a reputation for high-quality.

The story of Dow’s is unusual amongst all the great Port houses. It began in 1798 when Bruno da Silva, a Portuguese merchant from Oporto, made a journey which was the opposite to that of the first British merchants. The Port shipping business was continued by Bruno’s son, John da Silva who in 1862 brought into partnership Frederick William Cosens. With the continuing expansion of the firm, Edward da Silva and Frederick Cosens were joined by George Acheson Warre, whose well known family had been involved in the Port trade since its earliest years. In 1877, Silva & Cosens merged with another leading Port company, Dow & Co.

Although smaller than Silva & Cosens, Dow & Co had become a very highly regarded Port producer with a particularly fine reputation for its Vintage Ports and when the two companies merged, it was decided to adopt DOW’S as the brand name

For over two centuries the name of DOW has been associated with the finest Port from the vineyards of the Upper Douro Valley. Throughout the 20th Century and into the 21st, the Symington family has built on the legacy of the preceding Silva and Dow families.

Dow’s attractive and distinctive drier finish is the recognisable hallmark of the wines from this great Port house.

Barros wines are a celebration of Portuguese talent. They express a talent which is very Portuguese, enhanced by experience and knowledge. They were created in the beginning of the 20th century, in 1913, and soon became a reference brand to Port wine consumers

This very old, strong and generous port translates the balance between flavor and aroma and combines complexity with elegance. From the Producer Vasques de Carvalho.
