<p>Since 1751 Ferreira name has always been synonymous with high-quality Portuguese wine. The brand's history is intertwined with the history of the evolution of the Douro Region (demarcated in 1756) and its Porto and table wines (Douro DOC).</p> <p>Dona Antonia, endowed with exceptional energy and a rare commercial talent gave great impetus to wine-growing in Douro and was well-known for her acts of social welfare in the region. Her intelligence and kindness earned her the warm admiration of her contemporaries, who affectionately nicknamed her "Ferreirinha" (little Ferreira). <br />Today, more than 250 years later, Ferreira is "the Portuguese brand", the benchmark in excellent quality Porto and Douro wine as "Porto Ferreira", "Barca Vellha" "Reserva Especial", "Callabriga", "Quinta da Leda" and "Antónia Adelaide Ferreira", the symbol of a country and a culture it proudly honours.</p> <p> </p> <p></p>

<p></p><p>Horácio Simões Moscatel Licoroso Castelão Heritage is the result of intense work split between the vineyard and the winery. The vineyard was monitored and pampered throughout so that yields did not exceed 1500 litres/ha and the grapes arrived at the winery in the ideal state of health and ripeness. At the winery, a ‘special’ vinification process was devised for this product, different from what was usual in other companies in the region.</p> <p>As an accompaniment to a good dessert served at a temperature of 14ºC. </p>

<p></p><p>This fortified wine dates back to the 14th century and reached its golden period by the laborious hands and sharp mind of Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo - Marquês de Pombal and Conde de Oeiras. Carcavelos' wine ran the world. It entered the most varied cultures. It has even given part of its 'soul' to Port wine in order to give it a 'body' and a superior taste. From this fertile and auspicious period, it fell to levels that without the intervention of the municipality was expected to cease to exist.</p> <p>It took hold and recovered and today, the vineyard continues to produce, on the hillside facing the Tejo, in the land that has always been fertile, shaken by the wind that is typical of us, the grape varieties. In the white, Galego Dourado, the Ratinho, the Arinto, the Rabo-de-Ovelha and the Seara-Nova; in the red, the perfect combination between the castes Castelão, Amostrinha and Trincadeira. Grapes that mixed in the exact measure, like alchemy, gives origin to our generous.</p>
