Quinta de S. José is a family project that began in early 1999 by the will of the João’s father, Ruy Brito e Cunha, due to the excellent location of the houses in the Quinta, practically on the side of the river.
<p></p><p>The Quinta do Côtto, in Cidadelhe, relatively close to the Régua, is a property of 75 hectares of vineyard and a plot built in the eighteenth century. The owners of the farm, the Montez Champalimaud family, exclusively produced Port wine until the beginning of the 20th century. In 1980 Miguel Champalimaud launched the first Quinta do Côtto Grande Escolha, consolidating the concept of Douro's quinta wines, which are still rare in the region.<br />The Quinta do Côtto brand has grown greatly in notoriety since then, until it became one of the most classic and prestigious references in the Douro region</p>
