In 2008, winemaker Carlos Magalhães challenged his friends João Nuno Magalhães, Manuel Castro and Lemos, Albano Magalhães and Bernardo Lobo Xavier, who later joined João Anacoreta Correia, to acquire Quinta da Saudade.
<p></p><p>Located in the extreme south-east of the Douro Demarcated Region, Quinta da Extrema is part of a vast property with four contiguous Quintas that make up 476 hectares, belonging to Colinas do Douro Sociedade Agrícola. This property is part of the important Douro Internacional Natural Park, which has enormous game richness and extreme relevance for the Region.</p>
<p></p><p>This company is based in the beautiful estate Quinta da Silveira, one of the oldest in the production of Port wines in the Douro Superior region, the Municipality of Torre de Moncorvo, and the parish of Adeganha.</p> <p>The company also owns Quinta do Tourão, with vines of enormous quality, in the same Vilariça Valley, which, due to environmental concern we are preparing for Biological production.</p>
<p></p><p>The history of the 100HECTARES wines begins in the early 70’s.</p> <p>The estates of the family are the origin of their wines, and the production is made exclusively from grapes coming from their properties, which is at the heart of the family’s production philosophy</p>
<p></p><p>Quinta do Ventozelo is one of the largest and oldest Douro Quintas. It has been passing through different hands over the centuries, hands that shaped it and transformed it to what it is today.</p>
<p></p><p>Fraga do Calvo wines are the purest expression of the Douro terroir, a place that holds in itself a peculiar combination of factors: soil, climate, grape varieties and the work of Man.</p>
<p></p><p>Very fresh and complex wine, with citrus and grapefruit, in harmony with discrete floral nuances and strong mineral notes! Notes of vanilla and toast! The freshness and volume of the mouth appear, with a very long finish.</p>
