Quinta Cabeças do Reguengo, acquired in 2009, boasts one of the most impressive views in the Alentejo region, and is also known as a paradise in the Serra de S. Mamede. The wine, produced here, is slow to provide a pleasant experience of flavours. Why? Although it needs time to be produced, it needs more time to offer a balanced flavour and even more time to show its full quality and potential. From the Cabeças do Reguengo range of wines, we present a white and a red wine that you must try:
Vira cabeças 2018 white wine
This wine is made from small, century-old vines in the parish of Reguengo. The harvest, which takes place in August, is manual, and the grapes are crushed, pressed and the must (grape juice) is statically decanted. The fermentation is natural and the ageing takes place in oak barrels for 12 months. It is bottled without racking or filtration. It is intense and very ripe, with a slightly mineral and smoked aroma, as well as dried fruits, jam and ripe fruit. In the mouth, it is full-bodied and elegant, with plenty of personality and flavour. It has a long finish. It goes well with fish, seafood and appetizers.
Solstício 2016 and 2017red wine
This wine is made from old grape varieties from a very old vineyard in the Serra, featuring around 14 different varieties, duly selected, such as Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir, Tinta de Olho Branco and Castelão. The grapes are destemmed and crushed, and fermented in a small vat with indigenous yeasts. Ageing for 23 months in old French oak barrels. It has aromas of dark red fruits with hints of spices. It is a firm, dry and slightly chewy wine. It pairs well with meat dishes, especially grilled.
