Seven friends to join forces and create the Baga Friends. Our mission is to show and educate the consumer on the great Baga based wines, to show the potential of Bairrada for the great wines, no mater if we are talking about Red wine, White wine or Sparkling wine.
<p></p><p>António Maria Gonçalves Faria was a mythical producer from Bairrada in the 1990s and for Dirk Niepoort is a huge privilege being able to work these magnificent vines</p>
<p>In the glass, it presents a bright lemon hue and a clean, expressive nose with aromas of mint, lime, and grapefruit, marked by the elegance of the grape varieties. On the palate, it is crisp and fresh, with vibrant acidity, the typical texture of Bical, and a long, elegant finish with hints of pear and apple wrapped in subtle minerality. With an alcohol content of around 12.5–13%, it is a refreshing white wine, perfect for pairing with seafood, grilled fish, or fresh salads — a delightful and refined choice for any shared meal or outdoor gathering.</p>
<p></p><p>Quinta do Ortigão vineyards are located at the heart of Bairrada, in Anadia, between the Caramulo and Buçaco mountains at an elevation of about 50 meters above the sea level. The older vineyards were planted in 1972, followed by new plantations in 1999</p>
<p></p><p>The company was founded in 1926 by Mr. Messias Baptista, who served as chairman until 1973. The management is still held by the descendants of MESSIAS family. <span id="result_box" lang="en" xml:lang="en">Since its foundation</span> that MESSIAS <span lang="en" xml:lang="en">has been producing and selling high quality wines from the main demarcated regions:</span> Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde, Beiras and Vinho do Porto. The company is also known for the high quality of its Champagne method Sparkling wines and aged Brandies</p> <p></p> <p></p>
<p></p> <p>Caves São João is an independent family business founded in 1920. This company has always been linked to avant-garde and tradition. In 1930 began to sell the sparkling wines and in 1959 began to commercialize quality bottled wines, both nationally and internationally.</p>
