Carcavelos' wine is part of Oeiras' fingerprint. In the reconstruction of what was inherited and the creation of a new model of territory, the history of this wine has not been forgotten.
Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, Marquês de Pombal and Conde de Oeiras was the great promoter of this fortified wine that ran the world. It entered the most varied cultures. He even gave part of his "soul" to Port wine to give it a "body" and a superior taste.

After this auspicious moment, it almost ceased to exist until the Oeiras Municipality decided to intervene and bet on the rebirth of this wine, so that this heritage would not be lost forever.

In this way, the municipality took possession and recovered the Carcavelos wine. Today, the vineyard continues to produce, on the hillside facing the Tejo river, in the land that has always been fertile, shaken by the wind. In the white grape varieties are used Galego Dourado, Ratinho, Arinto, Rabo-de-Ovelha and Seara-Nova; in the red, the perfect combination between Castelão, Amostrinha and Trincadeira.Grapes that mixed in the exact measure, like alchemy, give rise to the fortified wine Villa Oeiras.
