Founded in 1960 the history of Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira is intertwined with the village itself and with one of the best known Portuguese navigators - Vasco da Gama, Count of Vidigueira.
Based on the effort and dream of most of the wine growers in the regions of Vidigueira, Cuba and Alvito, this winery is one of the oldest in Portugal. Every year, it processes and transforms more than 8 million kilos of grapes producing about 8 million bottles.
In its viticultural patrimony we discover native grape varieties, perfected from generation to generation, among which the Antão Vaz grape variety stands out. This grape variety, legitimated as the Vidigueira variety and muse inspiring the Winery, gives rise to an exceptional white wine whose notoriety is worth the title of "O Branco do Alentejo".
More than half a century after being founded, the Winery intends to fulfill the promise of discovery and affirmation of the Vidigueira region so marked by wine culture, in a journey that brings the Winery and its village closer to Vasco da Gama, and to the conquests of other times.
As a tribute to Vasco da Gama, the wines from the Vidigueira Winery tell a story divided into seven acts, and some more, that promise us to travel to new sensory territories.
