The Papa Leite Estate located in Alter do Chão, Alentejo, dates back to the 17th century.
Filipe Barreiros Cardoso, in love with the area and the property acquired the estate and set about producing high quality products - beef, olive oil and wine.
The microclimate of the Nordeste Alentejo and the location of the estate create a unique terroir. And the grapes chosen for the production of the wines also find excellent conditions to develop their potential.
The white grapes chosen were Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Sémillion, Moscatel and the red ones Carbernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Alicante Bouschet, Syrah and Aragonez.
To add even more complexity to the blend of wines produced on the estate, Filipe Cardoso has entered into small partnerships with local producers to manage vineyards with old-vine varieties.
