Rui Esteves is responsible for the Dom Ponciano wine project, but the wine production in the family is already old. His great-grandfathers were already producing wine in the 19th century. This production was for their own consumption and was also used to pay for medical favors, lawyers and even the pharmacy bill.
Neto de Ponciano Abreu, one of the first owners of the Alvarinho grape, in the beginning of the 20th century, framed by the legislation of the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region, Rui Esteves decided to commercialize his Vinho Verde Alvarinho with the brand "DOM PONCIANO".
The exceptional soil conditions, climate and sun exposure, have an impact on the quality of the wine. The wine, obtained by the most modern winemaking technologies, is fresh, balsamic and very expressive in the mouth, where it appears powerful, with firm acidity and a persistent finish, with some sweetness.
