A história da Henriques & Henriques, fundada por João Gonçalves Henriques, remonta a 1850. Após a sua morte, em 1912, estabeleceu-se uma parceria entre os seus dois filhos, Francisco Eduardo e Joaquim Henriques, que deu origem ao nome Henriques & Henriques.
Desde os primeiros tempos que a Henriques & Henriques ocupou um lugar de destaque na viticultura e na arte de fazer vinho. Em 1913 os interesses familiares constituíram-se numa empresa da família que, em 1925, iniciou a sua actividade como exportadora dos seus vinhos em detrimento do abastecimento local a outros exportadores
