Este vino nace en la Serra de Montargil, en la región de Alto Alentejo, en la Herdade da Anta de Cima, propiedad de la familia Tenreiro, en un clima temperado, con una media anual de precipitación de 650 mm, y en los suelos de clay mediterráneos.
El argilla son vinos de terroir, de perfil seleccionado y diferenciado, obtenidos de muchas nobles variedades de uva portuguesa.
