Douro Wines

Douro is a Portuguese wine region centered on the Douro river and has the most highest wine classification as a Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC). The region is associated with Port Wine Production, and produces as much table wine as it does fortified wine.

Douro is one of the most beautiful wine regions in Portugal. Its qualities, such as the terraced plantations, have been classified as World Heritage and the natural beauty of the deep valleys crossed by the river Douro will surely leave you breathless.

<p>Located in the Roncão valley, a famous site for the quality of its wines, Quinta do Síbio presents itself as one of Real Companhia Velha’s oldest estates. Today the property, extends onto the plateau of Alijó with a total area of 101,5 ha enjoying South and West sun exposure, in between 90 and 550 metres of altitude</p> <p>The layout of the vines follow the level curves and are installed in traditional socalcos made os shist stones, highlighting the heritage of this property.</p> <p>Following a total restructuring of its vines, this charming quinta is one of the most innovative projects in the region, where we implement a vast program to recue some of Douro's oldest varieties, which were in risk of extintion.</p>

This arose from the joining of small plots of land, mostly old vines, inherited from ancestors for whom the cultivation of vines was of little secret, as they had always done it. Later, and already with the current owner, more parcels were added, thus joining the old vines to new plantations, cultivated using the most recent planting techniques</p>
