Douro Wines

Douro is a Portuguese wine region centered on the Douro river and has the most highest wine classification as a Denominação de Origem Controlada (DOC). The region is associated with Port Wine Production, and produces as much table wine as it does fortified wine.

Douro is one of the most beautiful wine regions in Portugal. Its qualities, such as the terraced plantations, have been classified as World Heritage and the natural beauty of the deep valleys crossed by the river Douro will surely leave you breathless.

<p>The Quinta do Côtto, in Cidadelhe, relatively close to the Régua, is a property of 75 hectares of vineyard and a plot built in the eighteenth century. The owners of the farm, the Montez Champalimaud family, exclusively produced Port wine until the beginning of the 20th century. In 1980 Miguel Champalimaud launched the first Quinta do Côtto Grande Escolha, consolidating the concept of Douro's quinta wines, which are still rare in the region.<br />The Quinta do Côtto brand has grown greatly in notoriety since then, until it became one of the most classic and prestigious references in the Douro region</p>

<p>Cara a Cara is Joao Silva e Sousa's personal vinic project.</p> <p>Great-grandson, great-grandson and grandson of wine producers in the Dão region, João Silva e Sousa began working in wineries and in his grandfather's vineyards at the age of 15. As a winemaker, he has worked in various internationally renowned houses. He was co-founder of two companies where he created brands such as Castello d'Alba, Lua Cheia em Vinhas Velhas, Andreza, Maria Papoila, among others.
