In 1993, João Nicolau de Almeida identified an extraordinary place for the production of wine. Apparently it was an improbable site, being literally a lot of shale, of very difficult plantation. He began to buy land, little by little, with considerable difficulty considering that they were small parcels belonging to a multitude of owners. It took a job worthy of an investigator to identify them until he was able to form the current Quinta do Monte Xisto
