It was hundreds of years ago that the Melo Family touched down the Lands of Azurara and thus found the Dão terroir - the plateau where the Julia Kemper wine vineyards are located.

In 2000, Julia de Melo Kemper, a lawyer in Lisbon, was called by her father, Melo, António Melo, to continue the legacy of the Melo family in DÃO. And it was thus at DÃO, and at Quinta do Cruzeiro, in Mangualde that Julia Kemper also became a farmer.
