The story of Henriques & Henriques, founded by João Gonçalves Henriques, dates back to 1850. <p></p><p>John Blandy, the founder of Blandy’s arrived in Madeira in 1808. In 1811 he founded his own business as a wine shipper and general trader, with brothers Thomas and George, and started to set the foundation for the family and the island itself with the production of the most famous and unique wine in the world – Madeira wine</p> <p></p>
<p></p><p>The total area of the island of Madeira is 732 Km2 and the extension of the Wine Region is about 500 hectares. It is a unique landscape and characterized by the rugged orography of the relief. Particular soil conditions of volcanic origin, mostly basaltic, and proximity to the sea, associated with the climatic conditions, where the summers are hot and humid and the mild winters, give the wine unique and unique characteristics</p>

Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.</p>

<p></p><p>Grapes from several quality vineyards of the Estreito de Câmara de Lobos and Prazeres area were used. Pressed grapes in pneumatic press. Interruption of fermentation by the addition of wine alcohol (96%). Tinta Negra and Verdelho stagiados in Canteiro during 5 years in French oak casks. For this lot we select wines from our warehouses, whose stable temperatures throughout the year originated this wine with balanced sugar levels and acidity.</p>
<p></p><p>Verdelho from the area of Seixal and Ribeira da Janela and Tinta Negra from Câmara de Lobos. Black Grapes Treads foot in traditional presses and the Verdelho by continuous press. Interruption of fermentation by the addition of wine alcohol (96%).</p> <p>Golden color with greenish reflections. Aroma fragrant and exuberant, revealing complexity and elegance. End of intense mouth and great softness. Excellent as a digestive.</p>
