The founders of D’Oliveiras were visionaries that saw the true value of Madeira Wine: its ability to improve over time. Therefore they started storing as much Madeira Wine as possible, letting it slowly mature inside the barrels for future generations to be able to enjoy it further. For that reason, D’Oliveiras is the only Madeira Wine company that owns Madeira Wine bottles and Barrels from as far as the 1850’s that can still be commercially purchased.

On tasting, Colheita Bual 2005 displays a rich amber-gold colour with reflections of old gold. Aromas are complex and mature, with dried fruits, caramel, toasted nuts and hints of orange peel. The palate is rich and luscious but balanced by vibrant acidity; flavours of fig, honey, and walnut linger in a long finish. With its established vintage character, this Madeira is wonderful as an after-dinner wine or paired with desserts, nuts or cheese.

On the palate, Cossart Gordon 10-Year-Old Bual Madeira presents a clear amber colour with golden tinges, noticeable legs and a rich bouquet including prunes, almond, vanilla, wood, and toffee. It has a medium-sweet finish and an excellent balance between fruit and acidity. With 19% ABV, about 87 g/L residual sugar and total acidity of 6.53 g/L (tartaric), it’s ideal as an after-dinner drink, especially when paired with milk chocolate, cakes, fruit, or hard cheeses. Bottled ready to enjoy, and will keep well for several months after opening.

The story of Henriques & Henriques, founded by João Gonçalves Henriques, dates back to 1850.
